2020 Books I'm MOST Excited For

Writer's picture: CatNipCatNip

I know that the year's about half-way over but there are still many books that are being released in the span of the rest of this year, 2020. There have even been recently announced books that I almost fainted when hearing about... *cough* Midnight Sun *cough*. I wanted to be able to completely channel my excitement and write a list of at least a few of the new releases coming out this year. I'll be including the upcoming release date and a summary from Goodreads for the books. I hope that you guys are as excited as I am!

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

Release Date: August 4, 2020

This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting beautiful, mysterious Bella is both the most intriguing and unnerving event he has experienced in his long life as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he let himself fall in love with Bella when he knows that he is endangering her life?

In Midnight Sun, Stephenie Meyer transports us back to a world that has captivated millions of readers and, drawing on the classic myth of Hades and Persephone, brings us an epic novel about the profound pleasures and devastating consequences of immortal love.

I about died when I heard that Stephenie Meyer was releasing another Twilight book! I love the classic franchise so much and I plan on re-reading all the books before this one gets released. I think it's super cool that we'll be hearing from Edward's point of view and what his thoughts really were when he met Bella. I hope that she gives it a really cool spin!

A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir

Release Date: December 1, 2020

This is the fourth and final book of Sabaa Tahir's AMAZING Ember in the Ashes series. I'm not going to put the summary for it only because it'll end up giving away the endings of the first three books. We wouldn't want that! So for right now this is the summary for the first book here. I am just thoroughly excited for this book and I'm definitely planning on reading this series before the release date so that I can read it RIGHT AWAY when my copy arrives!

The Cousins by Karen McManus

Release Date: December 1, 2020

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they've never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they're surprised . . . and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point--not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother's good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it's immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious--and dark--their family's past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn't over--and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

I am such a HUGE fan of Karen McManus's writing and I've read all of her books and so help me God, this will not be an exception! She has always written such riveting and suspenseful books and I doubt this'll be any different. I definitely want to preorder this like I've done with the previous books of hers!

Well those are the highlights of what I'm most excited about! Again, I know that it's not the beginning of the year but 2020 still has so much to offer, as you can see, in terms of books. I promise that next year, for 2021, I'll do a list like this A LOT sooner than May. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this list and I hope you're as excited as I am!

Sincerely,

CatNip
