December 2020 Reading List

Writer's picture: CatNipCatNip

It's the month of Christmas everyone! Who else is super excited? Christmas has always been my favorite holiday and I'm so excited about it this year because honestly, it's a much-needed celebration! These summaries come from the Goodreads website since I have yet to read and review them. Enjoy!

The Cousins by Karen M. McManus

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each other, and they've never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they're surprised . . . and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point--not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother's good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it's immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious--and dark--their family's past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn't over--and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

This book came out yesterday and I was hopping up and down when it came in the mail! I started reading it the minute it came and might I just say that Karen McManus knows how to set up a mystery. Let's see where it takes us!

Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline

Book 2 of the Ready Player One series

Note: May contain spoilers to previous books in series

Days after Oasis founder James Halliday's contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything. Hidden within Halliday's vault, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the Oasis a thousand times more wondrous, and addictive, than even Wade dreamed possible. With it comes a new riddle and a new quest. The last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize. And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who will kill millions to get what he wants. Wade's life and the future of the Oasis are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.

I am absolutely dying to know how the author plans to one-up the last book in the series because that one was just so amazing. The gamer geek in me is super happy to be able to return to this futuristic world of gaming! I hope that this is everything I'm hoping it will be!

The School for Good and Evil 3 by Soman Chainani

Book 3 in the School for Good and Evil series

Note: May contain spoilers to previous books in series

In the epic, next chapter of Soman Chainani’s New York Times bestselling series, The School for Good and Evil, everything old is new again as Sophie and Agatha fight the past as well as the present to find the perfect end to their story.

As A World Without Princes closed, the end was written and former best friends Sophie and Agatha went their separate ways. Agatha was whisked back to Gavaldon with Tedros and Sophie stayed behind with the beautiful young School Master.

But as they settle into their new lives, their story begs to be re-written, and this time, theirs isn’t the only one. With the girls apart, Evil has taken over and the villains of the past have come back to change their tales and turn the world of Good and Evil upside down.

Readers around the world are eagerly awaiting the third book in The School for Good and Evil series, The Last Ever After. This extraordinary new journey delivers more action, adventure, laughter, romance, and fairy tale twists and turns than you could ever dream of!

So far, I'm enjoying this series, and the last book ended on a MAJOR cliffhanger... so it's safe to say that this better clear some stuff up. This also marks the half-way point in the series and so I hope that it isn't slow-moving like many in-betweener books in different series. I guess we'll see!

Well I hope you have a really amazing holiday this month! This is a month full of new books for me instead of re-reads so I'm definitely anxious to see what I think of these three books.

Until next time,

CatNip
