Divergent
Okay... so these books were honestly pretty good. The concept was amazing and I really enjoyed getting to know the characters. The movie adaption just wasn't AS good as the book. It obviously wasn't horrible but I still will prefer the
book. I will applaud how accurate the book was to almost all of the storyline. The creators of the movie did a good job depicting Beatrice's character and honestly Shailene Woodley is a good picture of what I think Beatrice (Tris) Prior would look like.
One thing that really bothers me about the movie though, is the actress they chose to play Christina, Tris's best friend. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Zoe Kravitz as an actress overall and her performance in Divergent wasn't at all poor. The thing that bothers me though is that Christina is supposed to be tall and it is kind of a defining characteristic of her appearance. For those of you who are familiar with Zoe Kravitz, you know that she is not a specifically tall person, so I think they maybe could've picked someone who fit the specific characteristics of the character.
Other than some of the minor things like that, I think that as far as movie adaptions
go, this one isn't too bad at all. The story line stays consistent and most of the actors fit their characters.

5th Wave
5th Wave was a book that I read after I watched the movie so I went into it thinking that the book was going to be way better. While there were some of aspects that disagreed with the book, it was overall a good interpretation. There are a few scenes from the movie that took place in a COMPLETELY different setting in the book. Some of these scenes were, in my opinion, were in a better setting than they chose in the movie.
When it comes to characters, I think that they made Cassie a little bit more outgoing in the movie than she is in the book. While, in the book, she wasn't really disliked in her school, she also wasn't a social butterfly either. I think that they did a good job recreating Ben Parrish's character for the movie. They picked a great actor that is very suited to the role personality-wise. There is one character that just really bothers me in the movie. The creators of the movie made the character, Ringer, way too much like the character Joanna from the Hunger Games franchise. Ringer's character is meant to be tough but the way the actress played her was just too similar to the deadly but loveable character from Hunger Games.
So, while the story-line is well adapted to the movie, I think that they could've done a much better job with character development than they did. Also, since some of the scenes were in almost completely different settings than originally intended, then it is even harder to enjoy this movie even if your a fan of the book.

Percy Jackson
Ah yes... one of the most popular book adaptions that make fans so disappointed. I feel the need to point out one of the obvious criticisms of the movie. The age of ALL of the characters were COMPLETELY wrong. The character in the amazing Percy Jackson series were meant to be 12 years old. In the movie, they are portrayed as being 16. 16 is the age they were supposed to be at by the end of the fifth book in the series. When the movie came out, I hadn't read the book so when I did get around to reading the book, I was honestly so confused.
On top of that glaring fact, the story-line is also immensely skewed. There are important events that are supposed to have happened that just didn't and it messed with the initial story. I will admit, though, that if you remove the fact that this is supposed to be based off of a book, then it isn't a terrible movie. But if you're wanting to compare it to the book, you will be very disappointed.
Rick Riordan is an amazing author and I really hope that one day, they'll try to remake his books. Almost all of his books intertwine with each other because of the mythology factor in it so I'm fairly certain that they could do a great job with a movie franchise. Until then, I just keep my fingers crossed that they eventually do that!
