The Reckoners series book 3: Calamity
Note: This may include spoilers to previous books in the series
Summary
A once friend and mentor becomes a dreaded enemy in the riveting story of Calamity. Here, David Charleston faces his biggest challenge yet, facing the man he once idolized, Jonathan "Prof" Phaedrus. The only semblance of comfort he has is that now, he may have the secret to bringing the super-human Epics, back from the darkness that consumes their thoughts when they use their powers.
With the help of his team, which includes his beautiful Epic girlfriend that he still can't believe likes him, they plan on trying to take down Prof. The only thing different from the usual times they take down Epics is that they can't kill him, they must save him. To do that they travel to a whole new city with whole new Epics. Not only are they having to get used to the new environment, form a plan to rescue their old leader, and deal with the constant struggles of staying under the radar, they are also confronted with the new revelations that they discovered in Babilar (formerly New York). The star that's been in the sky for ten years, the very one that is what grants Epics' their powers, is actually an Epic that lives up there.... not exactly the greatest or most settling discovery.
Will the team be able to take down Prof without killing him? Will David survive the darkness that surrounds all Epics, including the girl that he loves? In this conclusion, the Reckoners will make history as the people who fought to defend the very world itself.

I honestly forgot how great this ending was! Despite being kind of slow moving, the story was exciting and had so many emotions in it. I really enjoyed a lot of the comments that David made! Some of the thoughts that he had were incredibly comical and I thought that it added such fun color to the story.
Another thing that I really admired, was how much stuff you learned in regards to the Epics, their powers and their weaknesses. I thought it was cool how Brandon Sanderson gradually developed the information about them. The fact that EVERYTHING made sense after the characters uncovered it all, is absolutely amazing! I've quickly found out that when it comes the Brandon Sanderson books, once you get to the end of the series and make the final discovery, everything else in the REST OF THE SERIES makes sense. There are moments where I'm kicking myself for not seeing the what should have been obvious twists and turns earlier!

The only thing different from the rest of the books is that there is more flirting and more kissing scenes. This is because David's girlfriend, Megan, plays a much more active role in the book. They make a lot of flirty comments to each other and they both check each other out throughout the book. Other than that, there really isn't anything else on the romantic front.
When it comes to language, there are the words like "hell", "damn", "ass", and "bastard". These words aren't common in the book but they are littered throughout it. By all means, this is definitely meant for preteens and teens.
