The Hunger Games book 2: Catching Fire
Note: This may contain spoilers to the previous books in the series
Summary
Finally, after the brutal victory that her and Peeta Mallark won in the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen can finally live in peace. Despite this, though, Katniss still has struggles she must deal with back in her home, District Twelve. Her best friend, Gale, is holding her at a distance and she's starting to become confused about her feelings towards him. Does she love him. Is it the way he loves her. Not only is Glae an issue, Katniss has also had to wonder what her inclinations to Peeta is. The line between acting and reality was pushed when they were in the arena. Peeta loves her but she's not so sure.
After receiving a visit from the diabolical President Snow, Katniss learns the Districts of Panem are having uprisings in her name. She has unknowingly sparked a revolution against the Capitol. Snow tells her that if she can't prove to the world that she is undeniably in love with Peeta and that it wasn't an act, then he will have her family and Gale murdered. He believes that if the Districts believe that their love wasn't an act and they weren't acting in rebellion too the Capitol, then the uprisings will end and the need to revolt will be squashed.
Katniss doesn't believe that she will be able to save her family and both of the men that she carries affection for, but she will sure try. Will she be convincing enough? Will it be enough to save the ones she loves?
Opinion
Scale of 1-10:
10
For some reason, this was a difficult one for me to score. I was tempted to give it a nine but then the emotional stuff in the story started taking place. I find that it's so much harder to read about characters you love suffer rather than watching them on a TV. I feel that you learn WAY TOO MUCH about them to be emotionally capable to watch them suffer. So I'm just going to go over and cry in a corner. Don't mind me...
In all honesty, though, this was just a fantastic book! Katniss's indecisions are so well written. It's really cool to see that when she does make a decision, she sticks with it with a determination of no other. She is so fiercely resolute to save Peeta, Gale, and her family that she just makes such an admirable character. She's very admirable but sometimes you just want to yell at her and say, "You're so stubborn and it's making you blind!!" I so wish that book characters can hear us.
If you haven't read the series or this book in particular, then I REALLY RECOMMEND.

Note: This may contain spoilers for the book
As like the first book, the only things in this book is mild romantic elements, quite a bit of violence, and no swearing.
Language:
There isn't any swearing in this book whatsoever.
Sexual Content:
There are more kissing scenes in this book. Katniss kisses different men at different times because she is indecisive about her feelings. Peeta lies, telling the Capitol that Katniss is pregnant even though she isn't.
Violence:
This is the one hang up in this book. The main point of the Hunger Games in this story is, ultimately, murdering the other tributes. There are many violent scenes and a lot of the characters get really bad injuries. There isn't too graphic of detail but it isn't exactly pleasant to think about either. The worst of it is when Johanna Mason, one of the other tributes in the arena, cuts open Katniss's arm.
