Summary

They've done it. The Electroclan has now destroyed the Elgen's power plant in Peru and gotten Michael's mom to safety with the voice (the Elgen resistance). Now they actually have to escape Peru, preferably without dying. Michael has been separated from the rest of the group and taken in by the mysterious Amacarra tribe of the Amazon Forest. What he finds in his short time with that tribe may help turn the tables as he tries to figure out how to rescue his friends.

The rest of the Electroclan, that includes Taylor, Ostin, Jack, and the other electric (plus a couple non-electric), have been arrested by the Peruvian government under terrorist charges. While the government doesn't exactly know what the kids do, they have the Elgen whispering in their ear, telling them exactly how "dangerous" this group of 15-year-olds are.

Meanwhile, the Elgen corporation is now under new control. Hatch and his group of loyal electric teens, have punished the chairman and the board by replacing them as leaders and taking over their yacht headquarters.

Can Michael and his team figure out how to defeat Hatch? Will they even be able to make it out of Peru, despite being wanted as terrorists?

Opinion

Scale of 1-10:

7.5

So when I started reading this book, I struggled to get into it. I'm honestly glad I didn't stop when I wanted to because it did end up picking up and getting more exciting. There were honestly even a couple of parts that I started getting excited about and I started feeling the action of the scenes. That didn't happen often but still. A part of me thinks that there are a few character inconsistancies when it comes to dialogue. There were a couple of comments made by certain characters that I'm like "I don't think that's something the character would say."

Other than those things, I did enjoy this book. I liked the action and the story-line that took place and I even got a couple of laughs from the comments made. I also liked some of the bonds between the people in the group and I thought they were pretty sweet. Like I said before, I really like it when I can feel some of the emotions of the characters in scenes and this book delivered on that. I honestly think that if you like the Michael Vey series so far, then you should read this too.

Age Rating

10+

So this book in the series is still just as appropriate as the other books. There's no cursing at all so that's good. When it comes to romance, there are multiple characters that are in a relationship or are flirting with each other. Michael and Taylor are in a relationship and they show affection for each other by kissing and hugging. Ostin and one of the other electric kids, McKenna, are together too and that baffles people that Ostin is with someone. I think that some of the comments made by people about them are funny. Other than that, there's mention of something between the characters, Abigail and Jack, but it's nothing other than a short kiss towards the end of the book.

There is some violence in this book too. Hatch punishes the Chairman of the Elgen board by hanging him upside down and, in order to save his life, one of the other board members takes his place. It is implied the the chairman and that other board member have a romantic relationship because she says that she loves him.
