Summary

After sinking the Elgen's base of operations, the superyacht called the Ampere, the Electroclan think that they've done the impossible. That is until they receive another mission to go to Taiwan to save a little girl... from an even more secure Elgen power plant. This girl that they're saving is essential to their, and the rebellion's, cause. She knows the secret to making more electric people. If that information got into the Elgen's hands, then they would win and the world as we know it would end. The only reason the Elgen haven't figured it out yet is because this genius little girl is Deaf and mute...

Michael and the Electroclan must now risk almost everything in the riskiest mission they've yet faced. With the help of some new friends (and an old enemy), the team MIGHT just be able to pull it off. The only question is... will they be able to rescue the girl before it's too late?

Opinion

Scale of 1-10:

8

Usually, I've given the past couple of books a 7 or a 7.5, but I actually really enjoyed this book's setting! It mostly took place in Taiwan and for some reason, I found it really interesting. While I still have some of the same complaints that I had in the last couple books, this one definitely kept my interest a little bit more than the other books did. Some of those complaints, though, I would have to say is that the dialogue is still kind of corny and some of the stuff is just a little unrealistic.

Another thing that bothers me just a little bit, is how nonchalant the parent are about their children going into certain danger again. I feel that after not seeing their 15-year-old kids for over a month, they would be a lot more forceful in expressing their desires for the kids not to go. I get that they want the kids to make their own decisions about leaving to go risk their lives, but I feel that they were just really care-free about it! That's just my opinion though.

Other than that, this isn't a terrible book. I've said this before, but if you've liked the previous books, then I would suggest reading this one because you'll still find it interesting.

Age Rating

11+

There is really, nothing inappropriate in this book. Almost all of the teens in the Electroclan are dating someone else. There is talk of kissing but other than that it's all kept to a minimal. It's also suggested that something is going on with Michael's mother and one of the resistance members. When it comes to language, there is absolutely none. That's exactly how it's been in past books and it's still pretty consistent.

There is some action in the book and some discussion of kind of heavy ethical questions like whether or not they should kill one person to save the life of millions. This was quickly dismissed as a terrible idea and the characters seemed to move on. The action of the book is just simple stuff like fighting and shooting people... all fun stuff!

So, this book is really good for preteens especially and if you have a younger child that has a reading level of about that age, I'm sure they will enjoy it too. The only thing holding back most younger kids, I would think is the reading level.
