Summary

This book by Richard Paul Evans is about a teenage boy named Michael Vey and he is definitely not ordinary. He has this mysterious power that causes certain electrical problems. He can pulse electricity from his very body! How shocking is that?!(I know I'm aware of the absolutely horrible pun)

Michael thinks that he's all alone when it comes to his abilities until him and his best friend, Ostin (non-electric) get to know their school's top cheerleader, Taylor Ridley. All three of them want to discover the abnormal powers the two kids possess.

When Michael's mom is mysteriously kidnapped, Michael ends up having to go to Pasadena, California to find her. This leads him to a road of revelation about his abilities and his past.

This is such an amazing book and I just thoroughly enjoyed it. I got this first book as a gift and by that point the rest of the series was out. I had honestly seen this book in stores and being advertised but I had just never really thought much of it. It wasn't until I actually picked it up that I realized how good of a book it was! I finished reading it in a day and I couldn't put it down. My only real problem with it is that it's just a little fast paced and there's not a WHOLE lot of really in depth character development. That's what, I think, makes it more of a easy, quick, and semi-lighthearted read. As you read you start to really like the characters and the development that they undergo. I definitely recommend this book.

There really isn't' anything inappropriate in this book at all. There is some kissing between some characters but there are no sexual references despite this being a book about teenagers. As far as language goes, there isn't really any at all. This is an action genre of book so there's some violence but it doesn't go into bloody details, only explains what's happening. I know a lot of people who get queasy when books go into details about the amount of blood, gore, etc. and let me promise you that this isn't one of those books that would make anyone queasy.
