Hello book nerds! I hope you're all having an excellent day so far. For this article, I'm going to be talking about what I thought of Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners series. These books are such a cool take on super heroes. I love Brandon Sanderson books (as I've mentioned countless times) and this was one of the first series of his that I read so I was excited to do a review on it. I'll only be putting the summary of the first book because you know... spoilers! If you want to read my review for a specific book in the series, go check out my individual reviews for them. Anyway, enjoy!
Summary
Revenge is what drives David Charleston. Nothing but revenge for ten years since he was eight. He wanted to kill the undefeatable Epic known as Steelheart. There is nothing that is going to stop him from achieving his goal, and there's only one group he can turn to.... the shadowy group known as the Reckoners.
Epics are the people who are able to harness amazing powers since the arrival of the mysterious, red star, Calamity. There are so many people with these abilities, yet none of them are heroes. None of them show kindness... or mercy. When David was eight years old, his father was killed by the powerful Epic, Steelheart, and that fact has festered in David's heart for a decade. And now he had a chance to accomplish his goal.
Will David get to kill his sworn enemy with the help of the Reckoners? Will he get to see the indestructible Steelheart bleed?

This series is honestly such an adventure! I enjoy the excellent take on heroes and villains that these books had. I really loved discovering more about the world that the story took place in! There are also characters and elements of this series that I just thoroughly fell in love with. The action and excitement of the story is definitely something that makes these books great!
The humor in this book is almost always GOLDEN in these books. The humor in Brandon Sanderson books are always funny, clever, and witty. There are some comments that the main character, David, makes that may, at times, be stupid humor but they are really funny and have given me quite a few laughs!
All in all, if you're new to Brandon Sanderson's books, then I would suggest starting with this series. It really introduces you to his humor and writing. It's only a small glimpse at the amazing story-telling that he's capable at and if you like this, then I almost guarantee that you'll love the rest of his books!
I sincerely hope you read this series because it's a must-read!

This book series is definitely meant for preteens and teens but incredibly enjoyable for young adults as well. There are some elements like flirting and kissing scenes that are evident in the story. There's more of it as the series progresses due to the more active role David's romantic interest, Megan, plays in the series. There is also a suspected romance between Prof and Tia, two members of the Reckoners team. This isn't a really obvious romance but it's still hinted at.
As far as language is concerned, there is the occasional "ass", "damn", "bastard", and "hell". It's honestly really tame when it comes to language. Again this is a perfect series for preteens and teens.
